“There is almost an enchantment of unbelievable magic in the method of communication adopted by nature in guiding seekers.” Swami Chinmayananda
The Heavens burst open at the fading light
With an invitation to a dance tonight.
Venue being the Pastoral Green –
Dress-code is – ‘Come as you preen!’
The sky changes its clothes from blue to grey –
Mrs Squirrel dashes off to close down for the day.
The Pigeon Gang all descends in flutters;
Ant and kids amble over wet gutters.
Mr Sun Bird turns up in cobalt blue –
Looking most attractive in this hue.
The seven Babbler sisters all in browns –
Rush off to wear their evening gowns.
Mr & Mrs Dove flit in gorgeous feathers,
Wondering what to wear in such delicate weather.
Crow family up in their cosy nest –
Arrive, dressed to kill in their inky best.
Magpie Robins hop this way and that –
Trilling, as usual, ‘Do we wear our rain hats’?
The band is under Mr Frog & His Crowd,
Croaking and clapping their hands out aloud.
Myna, the D.J. mixes music sounds –
Calling everyone, ‘Come on out to the grounds.’
Koel Dear croons at the top of her voice –
‘We are here to dance, sing and rejoice!’
Freddie Chameleon with his droopy eyes,
Keeps changing his attire to everyone’s surprise!
Amos and Anamos, the Mosquitoes whizz along
With friends, the Honey-Bees buzzing a song.
Parakeets show off in brilliant green skirts –
Hogging the limelight in their luminous shirts!
As everyone gathers to jive to the beat –
It sure is a respite from the hot summer heat.
Sparrows, they twitter on the dance floor;
Cats watch from indoors, their eyes all aglow.
Green Trees and Shrubs sway till their roots;
Leaves all wet glisten in gum boots.
Miss Ladybug makes an entry in red –
A hush runs through as many hearts stop dead!
I watch with joy Nature’s Rain Dance
Abandoning my umbrella, I take off to prance!

Is this in Hiawatha style ? I like the two lines and it’s fun to read.
I’m afraid i haven’t the faintest idea! I write the way words come and flow…
